We are seeking a Sr. Director of Inbound Product Marketing to join the M365 Copilot Inbound team, focused on shaping and scaling Microsoft’s most critical Copilot experiences across the productivity apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) that millions of people user every day, surfaces where customers first discover, adopt, and build lasting habits with Copilot.
In this role, you will lead a team of product marketers responsible for defining the inbound strategy, product narrative, and go-to-market motions for M365 Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. These experiences bring Copilot to life where work happens every day—helping customers reason over emails and calendars, create and refine documents, analyze data, build and polish presentations, prepare for meetings, and turn context from files, chats, and communications into meaningful action.
You will guide products from early concept through scaled adoption, ensuring tight alignment with customer needs, clear differentiation, and durable value. You will also craft the overarching story for how these Copilot-in-app experiences work together to help people get oriented, get started, and get meaningful work done—quickly and confidently.
This role partners deeply with product management, engineering, and design/UX to shape the product roadmap, while also working closely with business planning and finance, sales and field teams, Public Relations (PR)/communications, and analyst relations to drive launch excellence and sustained growth.
The primary location for this position is Redmond, WA. Additionally, there are three other locations where this role may be based. Candidates who do not reside in one of these four areas will be relocated to Redmond.

In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the inbound product marketing strategy for Copilot in the M365 productivity apps, shaping how customers discover, adopt, and build lasting habits with Copilot—while ensuring alignment with broader Microsoft 365 and Microsoft AI strategies and business goals.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of product marketers, setting clear direction and priorities, coaching for impact, and raising the bar on strategic thinking, execution, and cross-functional influence.
- Shape product direction from early concept through scaled adoption, synthesizing market, customer, and competitive insights to influence roadmaps, ensure product‑market fit, and deliver differentiated customer value.
- Craft clear value propositions, positioning, and compelling narratives that articulate how Copilot in the productivity apps work together to help customers get oriented, get started, and get real work done.
- Operate as a connector and facilitator, coordinating across product management, engineering, design/UX, business planning, finance, sales, and marketing to align teams around shared goals—often leading through influence rather than authority.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior product leaders and executive stakeholders, using judgment and market perspective to guide decision-making, align resources and priorities, and act as a trusted advisor.
- Develop and deliver integrated marketing and enablement assets across channels—including product narratives, demos, presentations, blog content, field tools, and training materials—to drive awareness, adoption, and advocacy.
- Serve as a voice of innovation to the field, translating product vision into practical guidance for sales and customer success teams, supporting key customer engagements, and ensuring feedback informs product and marketing strategy.
- Collaborate closely with PR/communications, analyst relations, and design/UX teams to represent the Copilot experience portfolio and tell a cohesive, differentiated story across internal and external audiences.

Tips for Your Senior Director Of Product Marketing Job Search
Quantify your GTM impact clearly
Hiring panels at this level expect hard outcomes, not activities. Replace phrases like 'led launch strategy' with specifics such as pipeline influence, category share shifts, or win-rate improvements. Reviewers scan for whether you own revenue-adjacent results, not just messaging work.
Tailor positioning to each product stage
Companies hiring a senior director of product marketing at a Series B move differently than a public enterprise. Read the job description for signals like 'build from scratch' or 'scale existing playbooks' and reframe your resume headline and bullet order to match that stage explicitly.
Build a portfolio with real competitive artifacts
Many candidates at this level talk about competitive strategy but show nothing. Bring a redacted positioning brief, a launch narrative deck, or a market segmentation framework to interviews. Concrete artifacts demonstrate analytical depth that a resume alone cannot convey.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists senior director of product marketing openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a cross-functional leadership story
Interviewers test whether you can align product, sales, and demand generation without direct authority. Prepare two or three stories where you drove consensus across competing stakeholders, resolved a messaging conflict with sales, or rebuilt a product narrative after a pivot.
Negotiate scope before negotiating title
At this seniority, org design matters as much as compensation. Before accepting an offer, clarify how many product lines you cover, whether you own a team or inherit one, and what your relationship to the CMO looks like. Misaligned scope is the most common reason senior hires leave within a year.
Senior Director Of Product Marketing Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most senior director of product marketings?
The companies hiring the most senior director of product marketings right now include Buildops, Microsoft, and Pindrop, with the largest share of openings in Washington, California, and Georgia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Enterprise software and cloud infrastructure companies consistently account for a large portion of openings at this level.
How many senior director of product marketing jobs are remote?
About 50% of senior director of product marketing openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly this role has been distributed outside traditional tech hubs. Roles focused on analyst relations, competitive intelligence, and content-driven positioning tend to be the most remote-friendly, while those tied to field sales alignment often require more in-person presence.
How do you become a senior director of product marketing?
Most people reach this role by progressing from individual contributor product marketing manager to a lead or principal level, then into a management track overseeing a small team. Building a record of owned go-to-market launches, developing strong cross-functional relationships with product and sales, and demonstrating that you can set strategy rather than execute someone else's are the critical inflection points that accelerate the path.
Can you get a senior director of product marketing role without direct management experience?
It is possible but uncommon. Most companies posting at this level expect prior people management experience, but a strong candidate can sometimes bridge the gap by showing they informally led cross-functional pods, mentored junior PMMs, or drove a company-wide launch as the de facto program lead. Targeting early-stage companies building out their PMM function for the first time gives you the best opening without a formal management title on your resume.
What does the senior director of product marketing interview process look like?
Most processes at this level run four to six rounds. Early stages typically include a recruiter screen and a hiring manager conversation focused on your background and leadership philosophy. Middle rounds often bring in product, sales, and demand generation stakeholders who test your cross-functional instincts. A final presentation round asking you to react to a positioning challenge or propose a go-to-market plan for a real product is common before an offer is extended.
Where can I find and apply to senior director of product marketing jobs?
