Senior Payment Operations Specialist Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior payment operations specialist in Maryland?
Most senior payment operations specialists in Maryland reach the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration and several years of progressive experience in payment processing, treasury operations, or banking. Maryland does not issue a state-specific license for this role, but employers here strongly value Accredited ACH Professional or Certified Treasury Professional credentials, both of which signal fluency in the compliance and processing standards common across the state's financial services and government contractor sectors.
Which companies hire senior payment operations specialists in Maryland?
Employers hiring senior payment operations specialists in Maryland right now include CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Fiserv, and CalvertHealth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's concentration of financial services firms, federal contractors, and large health insurance organizations means demand for senior-level payment operations expertise is consistent across multiple industries in the state.
Which Maryland cities have the most senior payment operations specialist jobs?
Baltimore, Rockville, and Hagerstown have the most senior payment operations specialist openings in Maryland. The Baltimore metro drives much of the volume through its established banking and health system presence, while the D.C.-adjacent suburbs of Bethesda and Rockville attract openings tied to federal contractors and technology companies that process large volumes of government and commercial payments.
Are there remote senior payment operations specialist jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and they are more available than in most finance roles given the desk-based, systems-driven nature of payment operations work. About 100% of senior payment operations specialist openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employers' comfort with distributed oversight of digital payment workflows. Fully remote roles are most common for positions focused on reconciliation, reporting, and compliance review rather than those requiring direct coordination with on-site treasury or banking operations teams.
How can I get hired as a senior payment operations specialist in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a payment operations analyst or treasury operations associate at one of Maryland's large financial institutions or health systems, such as those headquartered in Baltimore or the Montgomery County corridor. From there, candidates build toward the senior level by gaining hands-on ACH and wire processing experience. Pursuing an Accredited ACH Professional designation early gives Maryland applicants a measurable edge, and lateral moves from accounts payable, billing operations, or bank operations roles are common stepping stones that Maryland hiring managers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to senior payment operations specialist jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to senior payment operations specialist jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location within the state, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
