Senior Project Management Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior project management in Texas?
The clearest path is earning a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or business, then accumulating several years of progressively responsible project work before pursuing the Project Management Professional certification through PMI. Texas has no state-issued license exclusive to project managers, but the PMP is the de facto credential most Texas employers require for senior roles. Industries like oil and gas and heavy construction additionally value licenses such as a Professional Engineer designation.
How much do senior project managements make in Texas?
Senior project managements in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior project managements in Texas?
Employers hiring senior project managements in Texas right now include Amazon, Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, and Alvarez & Marsal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy infrastructure, defense contractors, and large health systems means demand is broad and consistent across both private and public sector employers throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most senior project management jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas hold the most senior project management openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth draws heavy demand from corporate headquarters, technology firms, and healthcare systems, Houston's energy and petrochemical industry drives consistent capital project work, and Austin's rapid technology sector growth has generated a strong pipeline of IT and infrastructure project management roles.
Are there remote senior project management jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 21% of senior project management openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves planning, coordination, and stakeholder communication that can be done off-site. The portions most suited to remote work are IT transformation and program governance, while construction and energy facilities projects typically require regular on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a senior project management in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a project coordinator or project administrator at a large Texas employer such as a major hospital system, an energy company, or a general contractor, then building toward the PMP. Firms like Jacobs and Fluor run structured development programs for early-career project professionals. Earning a CAPM certification through PMI and completing a Texas-based internship or co-op in construction management or IT strengthens a candidate's profile before pursuing senior roles.
Where can I find and apply to senior project management jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to senior project management jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries including energy, construction, healthcare, and technology. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly through the listings.
