What you'll do...

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering leads the execution and evolution of large-scale payment platforms across multiple engineering teams. This role owns delivery, architecture, operational excellence, and technical strategy for highly available distributed systems while ensuring alignment with business priorities and roadmap commitments. The leader drives cloud-native engineering, DevOps, automation, observability, cost optimization, and payment-platform resiliency while guiding architectural decisions and engineering standards. The role also develops engineering talent, manages cross-functional stakeholder relationships, and ensures payment solutions meet scalability, security, compliance, performance, and reliability expectations in a complex, regulated transaction environment. About the team: The UPP Payments team builds and operates a scalable, fault-tolerant payments platform that supports enterprise transaction processing. The team works across cloud-native architecture, payment routing, resiliency, certification, security, and observability to deliver reliable payment experiences at scale. Engineers design intelligent routing, failover, and recovery capabilities that maintain stability during peak traffic and downstream disruptions. The team values strong technical ownership, engineering rigor, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while partnering across product, business, security, and payment ecosystems to expand platform capabilities across markets and support evolving business priorities. What you'll do:

• Lead platform-level execution for highly available, distributed payment systems aligned with business priorities and roadmap milestones.
• Drive architecture for payment processing, transaction routing, authorization, retries, reversals, fallback, and resiliency.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, shared tooling, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, telemetry, and production readiness across multiple teams.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, operations, and payment stakeholders to deliver complex initiatives while meeting compliance and certification requirements.
• Guide architectural decisions for scalability, fault tolerance, performance, security, and cost optimization.
• Mentor engineers, strengthen technical ownership, lead operational improvements, and establish metrics for availability, transaction success, latency, recovery, and platform health.

What you'll bring:

• Proven engineering leadership experience delivering large-scale, highly available distributed platforms in payments, fintech, retail, or transaction-intensive environments.
• Strong understanding of the payment lifecycle, including authorization, capture, reversal, refund, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Experience with payment routing, orchestration, failover, idempotency, gateways, processors, acquirers, issuers, card networks, tokenization, and PCI DSS.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to guide architecture, manage production incidents, optimize cloud costs, mentor engineers, and enforce security and quality standards.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across product, business, compliance, security, operations, and external payment partners in complex, regulated environments.platforms across multiple engineering teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...
