- Own supplier identification, qualification, and selection for PCB, FPC, and rigid-flex assemblies used in wearable and miniaturized form factors
- Drive cross-functional alignment across hardware engineering, electrical engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing operations to hit new product introduction milestones for PCB and FPC components
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, including technology roadmap reviews, capacity planning, and long-term supply agreements with PCB and FPC partners
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, tooling, NRE, and contractual terms to optimize total cost of ownership
- Own supply planning across a high-variant PCB and FPC portfolio, forecasting at the sub-component BOM level rather than bare board, and securing capacity and long-lead material commitments against Tier 4 and Tier 5 lead times
- Set buffer and inventory strategy with suppliers and planning partners to service demand upside within lead time while limiting stranded-inventory exposure on configuration variants
- Build and maintain should-cost models at the panel, layer-count, and material level, and drive year-over-year cost reduction
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risk across PCB and FPC commodities, including allocation exposure, laminate and copper lead times, and stranded-inventory liability from demand shifts, and develop contingency strategies that protect program continuity
- Benchmark PCB and FPC manufacturing technologies, materials, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions and influence internal design-for-manufacturability standards
- Partner with hardware engineering to influence stack-up design, material selection, and flex routing decisions that improve manufacturability, cost, and supply resilience
- Contribute to broader commodity strategy by sharing market intelligence, supplier performance data, and technology insights across the hardware sourcing team
- Leverage AI tools and agentic workflows to automate and scale commodity coverage
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or commodity management with a focus on PCB, FPC/FPCA, or related electronic interconnect technologies
- Experience leading cross-functional teams through new product introduction and product development for consumer electronics or wearable hardware programs

- Experience identifying supply chain risks and developing mitigation strategies across complex, multi-program hardware portfolios
- Experience building cost models and driving cost reduction on a technical commodity
- Experience communicating sourcing strategy, supplier performance, and program status to technical and business stakeholders at multiple levels of an organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Experience managing high-SKU-count portfolios where color, configuration, or regional variants multiply unique part numbers
- Background in hardware engineering or manufacturing process engineering that supports design-for-manufacturability collaboration with PCB and FPC suppliers
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Familiarity with PCB and flex manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience sourcing for miniaturized or wearable consumer electronics, including rigid-flex and high-density interconnect designs

Tips for Your Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager Job Search
Quantify savings on your resume
Hiring managers in strategic sourcing expect hard numbers. Replace vague language like 'reduced costs' with specific outcomes: cost avoidance achieved, supplier consolidation ratios, or contract cycle time reductions. Sourcing leaders read dozens of resumes and skip the ones that don't show measurable impact.
Highlight your category portfolio clearly
Senior strategic sourcing roles are almost always category-specific. Call out every major category you've managed, whether direct materials, IT, facilities, or professional services, in a dedicated section. Recruiters filter by category match before reading anything else on your resume.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists senior strategic sourcing manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies mid-sourcing transformation
Companies that recently invested in a new procurement platform or announced a supply chain overhaul are actively hiring. Roles posted during these transitions come with broader scope and faster advancement. Look for organizations announcing ERP migrations or supplier rationalization programs in recent press coverage.
Prepare a structured case study for interviews
Most senior strategic sourcing interviews include a sourcing scenario or case study. Walk through your approach to stakeholder alignment, RFP design, supplier evaluation, and final negotiation. Interviewers want to see your methodology, not just outcomes, so practice narrating each phase out loud.
Negotiate scope and budget authority upfront
Before accepting an offer, confirm the spend categories you'll own, your authority to award contracts, and whether you'll have direct reports. Senior sourcing roles vary widely in actual influence. Getting clarity on these before your start date prevents misaligned expectations in your first 90 days.
Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most senior strategic sourcing managers?
The companies hiring the most senior strategic sourcing managers right now include Amazon, Holland America Line, and AMD, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and Illinois, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is concentrated in manufacturing, healthcare systems, and large technology companies with complex global supply chains.
How many senior strategic sourcing manager jobs are remote?
About 59% of senior strategic sourcing manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, which is notable for a role that historically required on-site supplier and stakeholder engagement. Indirect category roles in IT and professional services tend to be the most remote-friendly, while direct materials sourcing roles are more likely to require proximity to manufacturing or distribution sites.
How do you become a senior strategic sourcing manager?
Start in a sourcing analyst or procurement coordinator role to build foundational skills in spend analysis, supplier vetting, and contract administration. Progress into a sourcing manager position where you own full category cycles independently. Earning a CPSM or similar credential demonstrates professional credibility. Most professionals reach the senior level after managing complex categories with significant spend responsibility across multiple business units.
Can you get hired as a senior strategic sourcing manager without direct sourcing experience?
It's difficult but possible if you can demonstrate adjacent skills that transfer directly. Operations managers who have run vendor selection processes, finance professionals with deep spend analytics experience, or project managers with contract negotiation exposure sometimes move into the role. Targeting companies building out a new procurement function gives you a better opening than competing against seasoned sourcing professionals at established programs.
What does the senior strategic sourcing manager interview process look like?
Expect a phone screen focused on category background and team structure, followed by a panel interview with procurement leadership, finance, and cross-functional stakeholders. Most processes include a case study or sourcing scenario where you walk through your RFP, supplier evaluation, and negotiation approach. Final rounds often involve a presentation to senior leadership covering a sourcing strategy for a real or hypothetical category the company manages.
Where can I find and apply to senior strategic sourcing manager jobs?
You can find and apply to senior strategic sourcing manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your category background, seniority level, and location preferences, then apply directly to each one that fits.
