Solutions Consultant Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions consultant in Iowa?
Most solutions consultant roles in Iowa require a bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, or a related field, and no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Employers in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids typically look for candidates with hands-on experience in software implementation or technical account management. Earning a vendor-specific certification, such as Salesforce Administrator or a Microsoft solutions credential, significantly strengthens an application for Iowa-based positions.
Which companies hire solutions consultants in Iowa?
Employers hiring solutions consultants in Iowa right now include Collins Aerospace, Principal Financial, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Iowa's concentration of insurance, financial services, and agricultural technology firms creates consistent demand for consultants who can manage enterprise software deployments and client relationships.
Which Iowa cities have the most solutions consultant jobs?
Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Iowa account for the largest share of solutions consultant openings in Iowa. Des Moines drives the bulk of demand through its dense cluster of financial services, insurance, and technology firms, while Cedar Rapids and Iowa City contribute openings tied to manufacturing technology and university-affiliated research and commercial enterprises.
Are there remote solutions consultant jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than most fields, given that solutions consulting is fundamentally a desk-based, client-communication role that translates well to distributed work. About 32% of solutions consultant openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broad adoption of virtual client engagement across the software and financial technology sectors. Pre-sales discovery calls and ongoing account management are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a solutions consultant in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a technical support or customer success associate role at one of Iowa's major software or financial technology firms, where you build product knowledge and client communication skills before moving into consulting. Principal Financial Group and Transamerica both run structured onboarding programs for early-career hires in client-facing technology roles. A Salesforce Administrator certification or a completed capstone project demonstrating CRM configuration gives candidates without direct consulting experience a concrete credential Iowa hiring managers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to solutions consultant jobs in Iowa?
You can find and apply to solutions consultant jobs in Iowa on Migrate Mate, which lists current Iowa openings across industries including financial services, insurance technology, and enterprise software. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
