Solutions Consultant Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions consultant in New York?
Most solutions consultant roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field, along with experience in enterprise software, SaaS, or technical sales. New York does not require a state-issued license for this role. Candidates typically build their path through roles in technical sales, business analysis, or pre-sales engineering, then move into solutions consulting at mid-market or enterprise firms concentrated in New York City's tech and financial services sectors.
Which companies hire solutions consultants in New York?
Employers hiring solutions consultants in New York right now include Bank of America, Boston Consulting, and Capgemini, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of financial services firms, global technology companies, and healthcare IT organizations means hiring activity is broad and consistent throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most solutions consultant jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and Albany have the most solutions consultant openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major financial institutions, and enterprise technology vendors, while Albany draws demand from state government IT contracts and healthcare networks, and Buffalo's growth in professional services has added meaningful hiring activity in recent years.
Are there remote solutions consultant jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, since solutions consulting centers on presentations, demos, and advisory work that translates well to remote formats. About 30% of solutions consultant openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how widely distributed client bases have become. Pre-sales and post-sales advisory work tends to be the most remote-friendly portion of the role.
How can I get hired as a solutions consultant in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an associate pre-sales or sales development role at a technology company, which New York City's large enterprise software offices run regularly for early-career candidates. Firms like IBM, Oracle, and Salesforce have structured associate and rotational programs in their New York offices that move people into solutions consulting over one to two years. A background in business analysis, technical support, or account management at a SaaS company also opens the door, and earning a platform certification in Salesforce or AWS gives candidates a measurable edge.
