Sports Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sports professional in Georgia?
The path depends on the specific role you are pursuing in Georgia's sports industry. Athletic trainers must hold licensure through the Georgia Board of Athletic Trainers, which requires a CAATE-accredited degree and passing the BOC exam. Coaches and administrators typically need a relevant bachelor's degree, while sports medicine roles follow Georgia's respective clinical licensing requirements. Collegiate and professional positions often require demonstrated experience through internships or volunteer work with Georgia-based programs or franchises.
Which companies hire sports professionals in Georgia?
Georgia sports roles are posted by TGA Premier Sports, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Barton Malow Company and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's major professional franchises, university athletic departments, and growing sports tech firms headquartered in the Atlanta metro drive a significant share of the state's sports hiring.
Which Georgia cities have the most sports jobs?
Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Marietta account for the largest concentration of sports openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates due to its cluster of professional franchises and corporate sports sponsors, while Augusta's golf and sports tourism economy and Savannah's expanding collegiate and recreational sports infrastructure generate steady openings outside the metro core.
Are there remote sports jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. Many sports roles require on-site presence for athlete interaction, event management, or facility operations. About 14% of sports openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the field's predominantly hands-on nature. Roles in sports marketing, analytics, media relations, and sponsorship sales are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a sports professional in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an internship or practicum with a Georgia-based organization, such as collegiate athletic departments at Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, or Georgia State, which regularly take on students and recent graduates. Entry roles like athletic operations assistant, equipment manager, or event staff coordinator are common starting points. Pursuing a BOC certification for athletic training or completing a sports management degree with practicum hours gives candidates a measurable edge in a competitive applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to sports jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to sports jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and specialty, and apply directly to the positions that match.
