ABOUT THE ROLE
Penn State Health Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Physician
The Department of Orthopaedics and Therapy Services at Penn State Health is seeking a full-time board certified fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Sports Medicine physician, with additional sub-specialty interest in hip and knee arthroplasty or foot and ankle surgery. Other sub-specialty interests will be considered. This position will be located in State College, PA.
This position will maintain a community orthopaedic patient practice with some call obligation, and have responsibility supporting Pennsylvania State University’s main campus Division 1 Intercollegiate Athletic (ICA) program. In combination with other sports medicine providers within the department located in State College, the individual in this position will be responsible for supporting several assigned sports teams.
Sports team coverage may include athletic practices, home games, away games, after-hours call, and other events as deemed necessary by the ICA and Penn State Health in compliance with Big 10 and NCAA standards.
This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a collegial, patient-focused group with a rich history of providing great care to Penn State’s athletes and the community. We are looking for a motivated team-player to join a team that consists of three orthopaedic surgeons, five primary care sports medicine physicians, two physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, one surgical podiatrist, and five advanced practice providers.
The qualified candidate will be a full-time faculty member of the Penn State Health Department of Orthopaedics and Therapy Services, and hold an academic rank within the Penn State College of Medicine.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical degree – MD, DO, or foreign equivalent.
- Board Certification in Orthopaedics, and Sports Medicine CAQ preferred.
- Fellowship training in Sports Medicine. Additional sub-specialty interest in hip and knee arthroplasty, foot and ankle surgery, or other sub-specialty interests will be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Direct experience working with collegiate athletes.
- This position will report to Penn State Health, and interact with Penn State University’s Athletic Department.
- Excellent patient care abilities and an interest in teaching and clinical research.
