Learning And Development Specialist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a learning and development specialist in Pennsylvania?
Most learning and development specialist roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, organizational development, or human resources. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license for this role, so employers rely heavily on professional credentials such as the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development or the SHRM-CP. Building a portfolio of training materials and gaining experience through HR or training coordinator roles at Pennsylvania universities, health systems, or large corporations strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do learning and development specialists make in Pennsylvania?
Learning and development specialists in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $71,350 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,040 for the lowest 10% to over $118,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire learning and development specialists in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring learning and development specialists in Pennsylvania right now include InVision Human Services, Amazon, and Jazz Pharmaceuticals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large healthcare networks, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh regions means ongoing demand for specialists who can build and scale enterprise-wide training programs.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most learning and development specialist jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Reading have the most learning and development specialist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, hospital systems, and universities, while Pittsburgh's growth in healthcare and technology firms has steadily increased demand, and the Lehigh Valley draws openings from its expanding logistics, manufacturing, and financial services employers.
Are there remote learning and development specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 73% of learning and development specialist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the work, including curriculum design, e-learning development, and virtual facilitation, can be done entirely online. Roles focused on in-person onboarding or hands-on skills training at manufacturing or healthcare facilities are more likely to require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a learning and development specialist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an HR coordinator or training assistant role at a large Pennsylvania employer such as a health system, university, or regional bank, then moving into L&D once you have delivered or supported training programs. UPMC, Temple University, and companies like Day & Zimmermann run structured onboarding programs where new staff regularly contribute to training initiatives. Completing an ATD certificate program or building a portfolio of sample e-learning modules using free versions of Articulate Rise gives you a concrete edge when applying without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to learning and development specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to learning and development specialist jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listing.
