Learning And Development Specialist Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a learning and development specialist in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in human resources, education, organizational development, or instructional design as the foundation. No state-issued license is required for this role in Indiana. Earning a recognized credential such as the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development or the SHRM-CP strengthens your candidacy considerably. Indiana's large manufacturing and healthcare employers often prefer candidates who can demonstrate measurable training outcomes through a portfolio or prior program results.
How much do learning and development specialists make in Indiana?
Learning and development specialists in Indiana earn a median of about $61,050 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,060 for the lowest 10% to over $101,520 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire learning and development specialists in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring learning and development specialists in Indiana include Vylor, Conduent, and Eli Lilly, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Indiana's concentration of manufacturing headquarters, regional hospital networks, and financial services firms creates steady, recurring demand for this role throughout the state.
Which Indiana cities have the most learning and development specialist jobs?
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Batesville have the most learning and development specialist openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters, hospital systems, and a growing technology sector, while Fort Wayne and Evansville draw demand from regional manufacturers and healthcare networks that maintain dedicated training functions.
Are there remote learning and development specialist jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than many fields, since instructional design and curriculum development work translates well to remote settings. About 67% of learning and development specialist openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting the role's desk-based and digital nature. The most remote-friendly functions are e-learning content development and program design, while live facilitation and onboarding delivery roles more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a learning and development specialist in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a related role such as HR coordinator, corporate trainer, or team lead with informal training responsibilities. Indiana's large healthcare systems and manufacturers, including hospital networks in Indianapolis and production facilities in the Midwest corridor, frequently post training coordinator and junior instructional designer roles that do not require years of dedicated experience. Building a portfolio of sample e-learning modules or facilitation guides gives candidates without formal titles a concrete way to compete, and earning an ATD or SHRM credential while in an adjacent role accelerates the transition.
Where can I find and apply to learning and development specialist jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to learning and development specialist jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your background, experience level, and preferred location within the state, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
