Senior Solutions Engineer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior solutions engineer in Pennsylvania?
Most senior solutions engineers in Pennsylvania reach the role by combining a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems with several years in technical pre-sales, systems engineering, or consulting. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license for solutions engineers, so advancement depends on a combination of vendor certifications, such as those from AWS, Microsoft, or Salesforce, a demonstrable portfolio of enterprise engagements, and experience in industries that dominate the state, particularly financial services, healthcare IT, and defense contracting.
How much do senior solutions engineers make in Pennsylvania?
Senior solutions engineers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $98,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,960 for the lowest 10% to over $140,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior solutions engineers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring senior solutions engineers in Pennsylvania right now include Comcast, CVS Health, and American Heart Association, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major health systems, and federal defense contractors creates consistent demand for solutions engineers with enterprise and regulated-industry experience.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most senior solutions engineer jobs?
The cities with the most senior solutions engineer openings in Pennsylvania are Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense cluster of financial services firms, health systems, and enterprise technology companies, while Pittsburgh's growing tech and autonomous systems sectors drive demand there, and the Lehigh Valley's manufacturing and logistics base generates openings tied to operational and supply-chain technology vendors.
Are there remote senior solutions engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields, since solutions engineering is fundamentally a desk-based, client-facing role that translates well to remote formats. About 65% of senior solutions engineer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly the industry has adopted flexible arrangements. The parts of the role most commonly performed remotely include discovery calls, product demonstrations, and proposal development, while on-site work tends to be reserved for final presentations or complex implementation kick-offs.
How can I get hired as a senior solutions engineer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior solutions engineer or sales engineer associate role from an adjacent position such as technical support, implementation consultant, or software developer. Large Pennsylvania employers in financial technology and healthcare IT, including firms concentrated in the Philadelphia metro, regularly hire candidates from these lateral roles. Earning a vendor certification in a platform like Salesforce, ServiceNow, or AWS and building a portfolio of technical presentations or proof-of-concept projects gives candidates a concrete edge over applicants with only academic credentials.
Where can I find and apply to senior solutions engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
