Strategy Analyst Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy analyst in Illinois?
Strategy analyst roles in Illinois do not require a state-issued license or certification. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a quantitative field, and many of the larger Chicago-area firms prefer or require an MBA for senior tracks. Building proficiency in financial modeling and data visualization, and targeting Chicago's dense consulting and corporate headquarters ecosystem, is the most direct path into the role.
How much do strategy analysts make in Illinois?
Strategy analysts in Illinois earn a median of about $104,270 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,610 for the lowest 10% to over $175,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire strategy analysts in Illinois?
Employers hiring strategy analysts in Illinois right now include Kraft Heinz, US Foods, and Conagra Brands, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major consulting offices makes Illinois one of the more active states for this role across a wide range of industries.
Which Illinois cities have the most strategy analyst jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Rosemont account for the largest share of strategy analyst openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates due to its density of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and consulting firms, while Naperville and Peoria contribute openings tied to large manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services employers headquartered in those markets.
Are there remote strategy analyst jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 63% of strategy analyst openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, analytical nature of the role. The work that most commonly goes fully remote involves competitive research, financial modeling, and presentation development, while roles requiring direct executive access or cross-functional facilitation tend to stay hybrid.
How can I get hired as a strategy analyst in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a rotational or analyst development program at one of Chicago's large employers. Companies like Abbott, Allstate, and Exelon run structured rotational programs for recent graduates that include strategy and corporate development exposure. Lateral moves from financial analyst, business analyst, or operations roles are common, and completing a case competition or earning a CFA Level I can meaningfully strengthen an application without prior strategy-specific experience.
Where can I find and apply to strategy analyst jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to strategy analyst jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across Chicago and the broader state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
