Data Operations & Platform Support Engineer

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Operations & Platform Support Engineer to manage and support enterprise data platforms, ticket operations, and compliance initiatives. This role requires strong experience in incident management, data quality, infrastructure support, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring high system reliability, data integrity, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

• Ticket Management & Operations

• Manage and resolve RITM, SNOW, across multiple platforms and towers including through Jira.

• Perform timely follow-ups and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure SLA adherence and prompt resolution of incidents.

• Execute data corrections (data fixes) and proactively identify other impacted entities to prevent recurrence.

• Handle urgent and emergency production issues with end-to-end ownership, documentation, and resolution

• Lead and contribute to Root Cause Analysis efforts to identify systemic issues and implement long-term preventive actions.

• Ensure process compliance and maintain accurate documentation of incidents and resolutions.

• Java API analysis for reported issues and working towards closure.

• Privacy & Compliance – Data Perspective

• Triage and analyze privacy incidents and compliance issues related to data.

• Identify root causes involving data exposure, integrity issues, or misuse.

• Perform data remediation and implement preventive controls to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with governance and compliance teams to uphold data protection policies and audit requirements.

• Infrastructure & Platform Activities

• Support infrastructure migrations, platform upgrades, and system enhancements (e.g., Apache NiFi AMI upgrades).

• Coordinate server decommissioning and infrastructure change activities.

What You Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in data operations, production support, or platform engineering.

• Strong experience with:

o Java , Python, SQL, APIs , Pyspark, ServiceNow , Jira, and ticketing workflows, Bitbucket

o Data platforms and pipelines (NiFi preferred)

o Databases: RDS, PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, Snowflake

o Streaming platforms: Kafka

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog.

• Experience with incident management, RCA, and SLA-driven environments.

• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance requirements.

• Preferred Skills:

• Experience in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), EMR, AWS Glue

• Understanding of DevOps/SRE practices.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-team environment.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Location & Compensation

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Virginia

Compensation Range: $83,000-$125,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
