Technical Solutions Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical solutions engineer in New York?
The most common path is a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or electrical engineering, followed by experience in a technical support, software development, or systems integration role. New York has no state-issued license specific to this title, but employers in financial services and healthcare often require vendor certifications from AWS, Salesforce, or Microsoft alongside demonstrated pre-sales or implementation experience. Building a portfolio of integration projects or obtaining a recognized cloud certification strengthens candidacy significantly in the New York market.
How much do technical solutions engineers make in New York?
Technical solutions engineers in New York earn a median of about $137,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,690 for the lowest 10% to over $218,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical solutions engineers in New York?
Employers hiring technical solutions engineers in New York right now include Capgemini, Amazon Web Services, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, global tech firms, and enterprise software companies means demand is spread across both established multinationals and fast-scaling SaaS companies headquartered in Manhattan and the surrounding metro.
Which New York cities have the most technical solutions engineer jobs?
New York, New York City, and Brooklyn have the most technical solutions engineer openings in New York. New York City drives the bulk of demand through its dense concentration of financial services firms, enterprise tech companies, and media conglomerates, while Albany and Buffalo attract openings tied to state government IT contracts, regional healthcare systems, and manufacturing operations that rely on on-site technical solutions support.
Are there remote technical solutions engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most technical fields, because much of the work involves product configuration, virtual demonstrations, and cloud-based integrations that translate well to remote environments. About 35% of technical solutions engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the role's strong digital component. The parts of the role most commonly offered remotely are pre-sales support, documentation, and cloud platform configuration, while on-site work tends to center on client implementation and hardware-adjacent deployments.
How can I get hired as a technical solutions engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical support, IT helpdesk, or junior developer role into a solutions associate or sales engineering coordinator position. Large New York employers like IBM and Salesforce run associate solutions engineer programs specifically designed for recent graduates, and many financial technology firms in Manhattan hire entry-level technical account associates who shadow senior engineers before owning client engagements. Earning an AWS Cloud Practitioner or Salesforce Administrator certification before applying gives candidates a concrete credential that compensates for limited professional experience.
Where can I find and apply to technical solutions engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to technical solutions engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the New York market. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
