Technical Support Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical support engineer in Colorado?
Technical support engineering in Colorado does not require a state-issued license, so the path starts with an associate or bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science from a Colorado institution or an equivalent combination of coursework and self-study. From there, employers consistently look for industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or vendor-specific credentials from Microsoft or Cisco. Entry-level roles in helpdesk or desktop support at Colorado's large technology and aerospace employers are the most common starting point.
How much do technical support engineers make in Colorado?
Technical support engineers in Colorado earn a median of about $127,010 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $84,510 for the lowest 10% to over $191,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical support engineers in Colorado?
Employers hiring technical support engineers in Colorado right now include Todyl, Terumo, and Pushpay, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's concentration of enterprise software firms, defense contractors, and telecommunications companies means demand for technical support engineers stays active across both the Denver metro and the Front Range corridor.
Which Colorado cities have the most technical support engineer jobs?
Denver, Pueblo, and Lakewood have the most technical support engineer openings in Colorado. Denver drives the bulk of demand as the state's primary technology and corporate hub, while Colorado Springs benefits from a dense cluster of defense contractors and military installations, and Boulder's concentration of software and research companies anchors consistent hiring in the northern Front Range.
Are there remote technical support engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, since much of the work involves diagnosing software, cloud systems, and network issues that can be handled remotely. About 56% of technical support engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely Colorado employers have adopted distributed support models. Fully remote positions are most common for SaaS platform support and cloud infrastructure roles, while on-site work is more typical for hardware-intensive or government-facing positions.
How can I get hired as a technical support engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a helpdesk or IT support associate role, which large Colorado employers in telecommunications and enterprise software use as a direct pipeline into technical support engineering. Candidates without experience gain an edge by earning a CompTIA A+ certification and building a home lab portfolio demonstrating network and system troubleshooting. Colorado's community colleges, including Community College of Denver and Arapahoe Community College, offer affordable IT certificate programs that Colorado employers recognize. Adjacent roles in customer service for technology products or data center operations also provide a credible lateral move.
Where can I find and apply to technical support engineer jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to technical support engineer jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location preference, and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
