Technician Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technician in Vermont?
The path depends on your specialty. Vermont does not issue a single statewide technician license, but many disciplines require specific credentials: biomedical technicians typically earn CBET certification, electricians must hold a Vermont Electrician's License issued by the Department of Public Safety, and healthcare-related technicians may need credentials recognized by the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation. Most employers require at minimum an associate degree or a completed technical program from a Vermont Technical College campus.
Which companies hire technicians in Vermont?
Vermont technician roles are posted by VIP Tires and Service, Hannaford, and Walgreens and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's mix of large healthcare systems, advanced manufacturing facilities, and utility companies means technician demand is spread across several stable industry sectors.
Which Vermont cities have the most technician jobs?
Burlington, Williston, and Essex Junction lead Vermont for technician openings. Burlington anchors the market as Vermont's largest city, home to UVM Medical Center and a cluster of technology and manufacturing employers, while surrounding communities benefit from the same industrial and healthcare ecosystem that makes the greater Chittenden County region the state's primary employment hub.
Are there remote technician jobs in Vermont?
Yes, but they're rare. About 10% of technician openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on most technician work is by nature. The roles most likely to include remote flexibility are those focused on software diagnostics, technical support coordination, or documentation rather than direct equipment servicing.
How can I get hired as a technician in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is enrolling in or recently completing a technical program at Vermont Technical College, which has direct relationships with regional employers and places graduates into entry-level roles. UVM Health Network and GlobalFoundries both hire associates and technician trainees, offering structured onboarding for candidates coming from adjacent roles such as lab assistant, maintenance helper, or production associate. Earning a relevant certification before applying, even without years of experience, gives candidates a measurable edge in Vermont's credential-conscious hiring environment.
Where can I find and apply to technician jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to technician jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings across specialties and experience levels. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
