Maintenance Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a maintenance in Vermont?
Most maintenance roles in Vermont require a high school diploma or equivalent combined with hands-on trade experience or a certificate in a relevant field such as HVAC, electrical systems, or facilities management. For roles involving refrigerants, an EPA 608 certification is required by federal law. Vermont does not issue a general maintenance license, but electricians and plumbers working independently must hold a Vermont state license issued through the Department of Labor.
Which companies hire maintenances in Vermont?
Vermont maintenance roles are posted by Galvion, Vail Resorts, and Husky Injection Molding and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's mix of large healthcare systems, ski resorts, and manufacturing plants means openings appear year-round across a range of facility types and shift schedules.
Which Vermont cities have the most maintenance jobs?
Burlington, Barre, and Milton are the Vermont cities with the most maintenance openings, driven by the concentration of healthcare campuses, university facilities, and manufacturing operations that require large, permanent maintenance workforces. Smaller hubs like Stowe and Manchester see seasonal spikes tied to resort and hospitality properties.
Are there remote maintenance jobs in Vermont?
Yes, but they're rare. Maintenance work is fundamentally hands-on and requires a physical presence at the facility being serviced, which limits remote options. About 3% of maintenance openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to involve administrative coordination, facilities planning, or mobile maintenance management roles rather than direct technical work.
How can I get hired as a maintenance in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a maintenance helper or facilities assistant role at a large Vermont institution such as a hospital, university, or resort property, where structured on-the-job training is common. The University of Vermont and Dartmouth Health facilities in the region regularly bring in entry-level candidates and develop them into specialized technicians. Earning an EPA 608 certification before applying gives candidates a concrete edge, and candidates with experience in adjacent trades like housekeeping, custodial work, or construction labor frequently transition into maintenance with minimal additional training.
Where can I find and apply to maintenance jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to maintenance jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings across property types, industries, and experience levels. Find a role that fits and apply directly from the listing.
