Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly, highly organized, and patient-focused Optometric Technician. Our Optometric Technicians support our optometrists by conducting preliminary diagnostic evaluations, facilitating contact lens instructions, and driving efficient clinic operations. This multifaceted role merges clinical testing, patient interactions, and administrative rigor within a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
-Clinical & Diagnostic Workup (Pre-Testing)
- Record Patient History
- Preliminary Diagnostics: Operate diagnostic equipment to perform pre-testing
- Advanced Imaging & Special Testing: Perform specialized diagnostic tests ordered by the doctor.
-Patient Care & Contact Lens Instruction
- I&R Training: Conduct insertion, removal, and hygiene training for first-time contact lens wearers.
- Diagnostic Lens Management: Maintain diagnostic contact lens inventory, place orders, and manage trial lenses.
- Doctor Support: Assist the optometrist during exams as needed.
-Clinic Flow & Practice Operations
- Exam Room Management: Clean, sanitize, and stock all exam rooms and diagnostic equipment between patients according to OSHA and clinical safety protocols.
- Patient Triage & Flow: Keep clinic appointments running on schedule by managing pre-test timing and communicating efficiently with the doctor and optical team.
- Patient Education: Reiterate doctor recommendations regarding lens options, preventative eye care, and follow-up schedules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional communication skills with a polished, friendly, and professional demeanor.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage patient flow, conduct pre-testing efficiently, and adapt seamlessly in a fast-paced medical practice.
