Which animal care & pet services companies sponsor E-3 visas in California?
California's largest employers in this space include VCA Animal Hospitals, Banfield Pet Hospital, BluePearl Veterinary Partners, and Petco, all of which have sponsored work visas for qualified professionals. University-affiliated veterinary programs, such as UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, also hire internationally for clinical and research roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on the specific role, the employer's hiring policies, and whether your qualifications meet specialty occupation criteria.
Which cities in California have the most animal care & pet services E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Sacramento tend to have the highest concentration of animal care and pet services employers in California. Los Angeles and the Bay Area in particular support large networks of specialty and emergency veterinary clinics, corporate pet care chains, and animal welfare organizations. UC Davis, located near Sacramento, is a notable hub for veterinary research and clinical positions that may support E-3 sponsorship.
What types of animal care & pet services roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must typically require at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific field. In animal care and pet services, roles most likely to meet this threshold include licensed veterinarians, veterinary specialists, animal behaviorists with relevant academic credentials, and veterinary researchers. General grooming, kennel attendant, or pet sitting roles do not typically meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find animal care & pet services E-3 sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa type, including E-3, and by industry, so you can search animal care and pet services roles in California without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because E-3 sponsorship in this industry is concentrated among larger veterinary groups and academic institutions, Migrate Mate's filters help you focus on employers with a documented history of supporting international hires.
Are there any California-specific considerations for animal care & pet services E-3 sponsorship?
Veterinarians practicing in California must hold a license issued by the California Veterinary Medical Board, which requires passing the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination and a California state jurisprudence exam. Australian veterinary degrees are generally assessed for equivalency, but the licensing process takes time and should begin well before your intended start date. Your employer will need to confirm that your role and qualifications satisfy both E-3 specialty occupation requirements and California's professional licensing standards.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 animal care & pet services jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
