Search Sports Jobs in CaliforniaSports E-3 Sponsorship Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
Which sports companies sponsor E-3 visas in California?
California's professional sports organizations are among the most active E-3 sponsors in the country. Major League Baseball teams like the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, NBA franchises including the Lakers and Warriors, MLS clubs like the LA Galaxy, and sports technology companies such as those based in Silicon Valley have documented histories of filing Labor Condition Applications for Australian professionals in operations, analytics, and performance roles.
Which cities in California have the most sports E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles concentrates the highest volume of sports E-3 opportunities, driven by its density of professional franchises across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS. The San Francisco Bay Area adds substantial depth through both professional teams and sports technology companies headquartered near Silicon Valley. San Diego has a growing sports science and wellness sector, particularly around its university research institutions and elite training facilities.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 eligibility requires that the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, meaning it typically demands at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In the sports industry, qualifying roles commonly include sports analytics, sports science, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, sports business development, marketing, broadcasting, and sports medicine. General coaching or administrative support roles without a degree requirement often do not qualify under USCIS standards.
How do I find sports E-3 sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, you can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface California sports employers with verified E-3 Labor Condition Application filing history. This removes the guesswork of approaching teams or organizations that have never sponsored an E-3. Filtering by the Sports and Recreation category within California on Migrate Mate shows roles where employers have already demonstrated willingness and capacity to sponsor Australian professionals.
Are there any California-specific considerations for sports E-3 sponsorship?
California employers must comply with state labor laws that often exceed federal minimums, and E-3 applications require the Labor Condition Application to reflect wages that meet California's prevailing wage levels for the specific occupation and location. Sports roles in Los Angeles and San Francisco typically carry higher prevailing wage requirements than inland areas. Australians should also confirm their specific degree field aligns with the posted role, as USCIS specialty occupation standards apply equally regardless of state.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sports jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
