Which sports companies in Oregon sponsor E-3 visas?
Nike, headquartered in Beaverton, is Oregon's largest sports employer and has a documented history of sponsoring work visas for specialty roles in product development, marketing, and sports science. Portland's professional sports franchises, including the Trail Blazers (NBA), Timbers (MLS), and Thorns (NWSL), also hire for roles that can qualify for E-3 sponsorship, particularly in analytics, performance science, and coaching staff positions.
Which cities in Oregon have the most sports E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of sports E-3 sponsorship opportunities in Oregon, driven by its professional sports teams and Nike's campus in the neighboring city of Beaverton. Eugene has a smaller but notable presence through its connection to the University of Oregon's athletic programs and the city's identity as a track and field hub. Salem and Bend offer limited options by comparison.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Oregon?
E-3 sponsorship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In Oregon's sports industry, roles that commonly meet this standard include sports analytics, exercise science, sports marketing, performance coaching with relevant qualifications, sports medicine, and product development positions at companies like Nike. General athletic or operational roles without a degree requirement are less likely to qualify.
How do I find sports E-3 sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find sports E-3 sponsorship jobs in Oregon, as the platform filters specifically for employers who sponsor E-3 visas and lets you browse by state and industry. For Oregon's sports sector, filtering by the Portland metro area and sports-related categories will surface roles at professional teams, Nike, and adjacent organizations. Confirming E-3 sponsorship willingness directly with employers during the application process is always advisable.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for sports E-3 sponsorship?
Oregon has no state income tax, which is a practical financial consideration for E-3 holders evaluating offers. Within the sports industry specifically, Nike's Beaverton campus operates on a large scale and tends to hire for highly specialized roles, so applicants should ensure their degree field aligns closely with the position. Oregon's outdoor recreation economy also creates adjacent opportunities in areas like sports technology and athletic retail that may support E-3 sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sports jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
