Which sports companies in New York sponsor E-3 visas?
Major League Baseball, the NBA's New York Knicks, and the NFL's Giants and Jets have all filed for professional work visas. Beyond the franchises themselves, sports media companies like ESPN's New York operations, IMG, and large sports marketing agencies in Manhattan are among the more active sponsors. E-3 visa sponsorship is not guaranteed at any employer, but larger organizations with dedicated HR and legal infrastructure are more likely to have established sponsorship processes.
Which cities in New York have the most sports E-3 sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of sports E-3 opportunities in the state, given the concentration of professional franchises, sports media companies, and global agencies in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. Buffalo has a smaller but active market centered on the Bills and Sabres organizations. Outside those two metros, sports employer density drops significantly, making relocation to New York City the most practical approach for most Australian candidates.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in New York?
The E-3 requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. In the New York sports industry, roles that commonly meet this standard include sports analytics, sports science and athlete performance, digital marketing, finance and operations, broadcast production, and sponsorship strategy. General coaching, event staffing, or roles where a specific degree is not a formal requirement are less likely to qualify.
How do I find sports E-3 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is the most direct starting point, as the platform specifically filters job listings by visa type and state, letting you browse sports roles in New York where employers have indicated E-3 sponsorship willingness. Beyond the job board, targeting larger New York sports organizations directly and researching their past LCA filings through the Department of Labor's public disclosure data can help you identify which employers have a documented history of sponsoring E-3 workers.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for sports E-3 sponsorship?
New York's high cost of living means the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for the New York metro area tend to be among the highest in the country, which raises the wage floor your employer must meet on the Labor Condition Application. Additionally, the competitive nature of New York's sports job market means roles fill quickly. Australian candidates working with New York City-based employers will typically attend their visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia, as New York does not process E-3 applications domestically for first-time applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sports jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
