Which education companies sponsor E-3 visas in New York?
Universities and large academic institutions account for the most consistent E-3 sponsorship activity in New York's education sector. Columbia University, NYU, The New School, and Fordham University have established international hiring processes. Beyond higher education, edtech companies headquartered in New York City, such as Amplify and Newsela, as well as large test-prep and tutoring organizations, have sponsored specialty occupation roles for qualified Australian candidates.
Which cities in New York have the most education E-3 sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of education E-3 sponsorship opportunities in the state, driven by its concentration of universities, private schools, nonprofit education organizations, and edtech startups. Albany has openings tied to state government education agencies and SUNY system institutions. Rochester and Buffalo host regional universities, including the University of Rochester and SUNY Buffalo, where international academic hiring occurs with some regularity.
What types of education roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in New York?
E-3 sponsorship requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In New York's education sector, roles that commonly meet this standard include instructional designers, curriculum developers, educational researchers, data analysts working within academic institutions, and university-level teaching or research positions. General classroom aide or paraprofessional roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I find education E-3 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 visa sponsorship jobs and filters listings by visa type, industry, and state, making it straightforward to browse education roles in New York without sorting through positions that do not offer sponsorship. Beyond browsing, targeting employers with a documented history of E-3 or H-1B filings in the education sector, particularly universities and established edtech companies in New York City, narrows your search to realistic opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in New York's education sector?
New York State requires teacher certification for K-12 classroom instruction in public schools, which can complicate E-3 sponsorship for teaching roles since certification requirements may not align with Australian qualifications without additional steps. Roles at private schools, universities, and edtech companies generally face fewer state licensing barriers. New York City's large nonprofit education sector also hires for program and research roles that can qualify as specialty occupations without triggering state certification requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 education jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
