Which insurance companies sponsor E-3 visas in California?
Large national and global carriers with California operations are the most consistent E-3 visa sponsors in the insurance sector. Companies like Zurich North America, Farmers Insurance, Chubb, AIG, and Allianz have filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty insurance roles in the state. Regional carriers and large insurance brokerages such as Aon and Marsh McLennan also hire for qualifying specialty occupations in California offices.
Which cities in California have the most insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and Los Angeles account for the largest share of insurance E-3 roles in California, driven by concentration of corporate headquarters, regional offices, and financial services firms. Sacramento is notable for roles tied to California's Department of Insurance and state-regulated programs. San Diego has a smaller but active market, particularly in specialty lines and risk management tied to the biotech and defense sectors.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In insurance, roles that consistently meet this standard include actuaries, underwriters, risk analysts, claims analysts, compliance officers, and insurance data scientists. General sales or customer service positions typically do not qualify because they don't require a degree in a specific discipline.
How do I find insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface insurance roles in California where employers have a history of E-3 sponsorship. Because E-3 sponsorship willingness isn't always listed in job postings, filtering by verified sponsoring employers saves significant time. Targeting larger carriers and brokerages in San Francisco and Los Angeles tends to yield the strongest results.
Are there any California-specific considerations for insurance E-3 sponsorship?
California's Department of Insurance imposes licensing requirements on many insurance professionals, which are separate from and in addition to E-3 visa requirements. Employers sponsoring an E-3 must also file a Labor Condition Application confirming the role meets prevailing wage standards, and California's high cost of living means prevailing wage levels are often higher than national benchmarks. Australian professionals should confirm any required state licenses before accepting an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 insurance jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
