Which accounting companies sponsor E-3 visas in California?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, and EY, are among the most consistent E-3 visa sponsors for accounting roles in California, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose. Regional firms like Grant Thornton and BDO also have California practices that have filed E-3 Labor Condition Applications. Large technology and entertainment companies with in-house accounting teams are additional sources of E-3 sponsorship in this state.
Which cities in California have the most accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and Los Angeles account for the largest share of accounting E-3 opportunities in California. San Francisco's concentration of technology and financial services firms drives demand for audit, tax, and financial reporting roles. Los Angeles adds entertainment, media, and real estate accounting. San Jose and Sacramento are secondary markets worth considering, particularly for corporate accounting and public sector audit roles.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify include external auditor, tax accountant, financial analyst, management accountant, forensic accountant, and internal auditor positions. These qualify because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, meeting the E-3 specialty occupation standard. General bookkeeping or accounts payable clerk roles are less likely to qualify because the degree requirement in a specific field is harder to establish.
How do I find accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (E-3) and industry (accounting) to see California employers actively open to sponsorship, without sifting through listings that don't apply to Australian nationals. The platform focuses on roles where sponsorship is part of the employer's hiring practice, which is particularly useful in a competitive market like California where not every accounting firm sponsors visas.
Are there any California-specific considerations for accounting E-3 sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the Labor Condition Application process reflect the state's higher cost of living, meaning the certified wage floor for accounting roles in cities like San Francisco is generally higher than national averages. Additionally, CPA licensure in California has specific requirements around education hours that differ from Australian qualifications, so while your degree supports E-3 eligibility, separate CPA credentialing steps may apply depending on your role and employer expectations.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 accounting jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
