Which accounting companies sponsor E-3 visas in Maryland?
Maryland's strongest E-3 accounting sponsors are typically the Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) with offices in Baltimore and Bethesda, mid-sized regional firms like CohnReznick and Aronson, and large federal contractors such as Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos that maintain in-house accounting teams. Government-facing contractors in particular hire CPAs and financial analysts regularly, given the volume of federal compliance and audit work in the state.
Which cities in Maryland have the most accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Bethesda and Rockville in Montgomery County hold the highest concentration of accounting E-3 opportunities, driven by proximity to Washington, D.C. and a dense cluster of federal contractors and financial firms. Baltimore is the second major hub, home to regional accounting firms, financial institutions, and healthcare organizations like Johns Hopkins Health System with substantial finance and audit functions. Columbia and Annapolis also have smaller but active accounting hiring markets.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that consistently qualify as specialty occupations for E-3 purposes include external and internal auditor, tax associate or senior, financial reporting analyst, forensic accountant, and management accountant. These positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. General bookkeeping or data-entry roles without a degree requirement are unlikely to meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to E-3 applications.
How do I find accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs in Maryland, as the platform filters specifically for employers willing to sponsor E-3 visas in the accounting sector. You can search by state and role type to surface Maryland-based openings at firms with an established E-3 sponsorship track record. This saves significant time compared to manually screening employers for sponsorship willingness, which is often unclear from standard job postings.
Are there any Maryland-specific considerations for accounting E-3 sponsorship?
Maryland's proximity to federal agencies means many accounting roles involve government contract compliance, requiring familiarity with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) cost accounting standards. Some positions with federal security clearance requirements may be difficult to pursue on E-3 status, as clearance eligibility is generally limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Candidates should verify the clearance requirements of any role before applying. The state's CPA licensure board also has its own requirements separate from the E-3 visa process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 accounting jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
