Which fintech companies in Connecticut sponsor H-1B visas?
Connecticut has a strong base of fintech H-1B sponsors, particularly in financial services technology and insurance tech. SS&C Technologies, Synchrony Financial, and Travelers have consistent H-1B filing histories. Larger banks and hedge funds operating out of Greenwich and Stamford also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data, which you can search publicly to verify a specific employer's sponsorship history.
Which cities in Connecticut have the most fintech H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Hartford and Stamford account for the largest share of fintech H-1B activity in Connecticut. Hartford is home to major insurance technology and financial services employers, while Stamford and Greenwich attract hedge funds, asset managers, and fintech firms serving Wall Street. New Haven has a smaller but growing presence, primarily through fintech startups and companies with ties to Yale's research ecosystem.
What types of fintech roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Connecticut?
Roles that consistently qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Connecticut fintech include software engineers, data scientists, quantitative analysts, cybersecurity engineers, and financial systems architects. These positions require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as computer science, mathematics, or engineering, satisfying the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. General business or sales roles are less likely to qualify without a clearly tied degree requirement.
How do I find fintech H-1B sponsorship jobs in Connecticut?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter jobs by H-1B visa type, fintech industry, and Connecticut as the state to see verified sponsorship opportunities in one place. This removes the guesswork of manually vetting employers, since Migrate Mate surfaces companies with documented H-1B filing histories, which is particularly useful in Connecticut where sponsorship is concentrated among a smaller set of established financial services employers.
Are there any Connecticut-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in fintech?
Connecticut's fintech sector is heavily tied to insurance technology and asset management rather than consumer fintech, which shapes which employers sponsor H-1B visas and for what roles. Many of the largest sponsors are mature financial institutions with established legal and HR infrastructure for immigration, meaning the process tends to be more formalized than at early-stage startups. Connecticut also has no state-level licensing requirements that uniquely affect H-1B eligibility in fintech roles.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B fintech jobs in Connecticut?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
