Which construction companies sponsor visas in Delaware?
Major Delaware construction firms that sponsor visas include Bancroft Construction, Belfint Lyons & Shuman, and George & Lynch. These companies typically sponsor H-1B visas for specialized roles like project managers and structural engineers, while TN visas are common for Canadian and Mexican professionals. Regional contractors working on infrastructure projects along the I-95 corridor also provide sponsorship opportunities.
How to find construction visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international professionals with Delaware construction employers who sponsor work visas. The platform filters opportunities by location and visa sponsorship availability, focusing on companies with proven track records of supporting international workers. Many Delaware construction firms prefer candidates with specialized skills in green building, coastal construction, or commercial development experience.
Which visa types are most common for construction roles in Delaware?
H-1B visas dominate for professional construction roles in Delaware, including project managers, structural engineers, and construction technology specialists. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering and architectural roles. O-1 visas occasionally apply for internationally recognized experts in sustainable construction or historic preservation, given Delaware's colonial architecture preservation needs.
Which cities in Delaware have the most construction sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington leads Delaware's construction visa sponsorship market, driven by commercial development and urban renewal projects. Dover offers opportunities through state government construction contracts and Air Force base projects. Newark benefits from University of Delaware expansion, while Rehoboth Beach and coastal areas provide seasonal commercial construction opportunities, particularly for firms specializing in waterfront development.
What are Delaware's prevailing wage requirements for sponsored construction workers?
Delaware follows federal Davis-Bacon prevailing wage rates for government-funded construction projects, which affect many visa sponsorship positions. The state's proximity to higher-wage markets in Pennsylvania and Maryland influences compensation packages. Construction companies must demonstrate that sponsored workers receive wages comparable to similarly employed U.S. workers, with rates varying significantly between northern industrial areas and southern coastal regions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
