Which agriculture companies sponsor visas in Delaware?
Mountaire Farms, one of Delaware's largest poultry processors, sponsors H-2A visas for seasonal workers and H-1B visas for agricultural engineers and food scientists. Perdue Farms also sponsors visas for management and technical roles. Smaller operations like Fifer Orchards and local dairy farms occasionally sponsor H-2A visas for specialized positions during peak seasons.
How to find agriculture visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Delaware agriculture positions that offer visa sponsorship. Focus on poultry processing facilities in Georgetown and Millsboro, plus dairy operations in northern Delaware. Many opportunities are seasonal H-2A positions, so timing your search around planting and harvest seasons increases your chances of finding available sponsorship roles.
Which visa types are most common for agriculture roles in Delaware?
H-2A temporary agricultural worker visas dominate Delaware's agriculture sponsorship market, particularly for seasonal roles in poultry processing and crop harvesting. H-1B visas are available for specialized positions like agricultural engineers, food safety managers, and farm management roles. TN visas occasionally apply for qualified Canadian and Mexican agricultural professionals in technical positions.
Which cities in Delaware have the most agriculture sponsorship jobs?
Georgetown leads in agriculture visa sponsorship due to major poultry operations, followed by Millsboro and Seaford in Sussex County. Dover offers opportunities in dairy and crop production, while Wilmington area farms focus on specialty crops and agribusiness. Sussex County accounts for approximately 70% of Delaware's agricultural visa sponsorship positions due to its concentration of large-scale farming operations.
What are the prevailing wage requirements for agriculture H-1B visas in Delaware?
Delaware agriculture H-1B positions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage standards, which vary by county and specific role. Sussex County typically has lower prevailing wages than New Castle County due to cost of living differences. Agricultural engineers and food scientists generally qualify for Level II or III prevailing wages, while farm managers may qualify for Level I wages depending on experience requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored agriculture jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
