Which healthcare companies sponsor visas in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, Delaware's largest health system, sponsors visas for nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals. Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover and Kent General Hospital also sponsor healthcare workers. Nemours Children's Hospital sponsors pediatric specialists, while rehabilitation facilities like Encompass Health sponsor physical therapists and occupational therapists.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare roles in Delaware?
H-1B visas are common for physicians, pharmacists, and healthcare administrators requiring specialized degrees. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican nurses and physical therapists. EB-3 green cards are frequently used for registered nurses through the Schedule A process, allowing faster permanent residency without labor certification requirements.
How to find healthcare visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Delaware healthcare positions with visa sponsorship. Filter by major employers like ChristianaCare and Bayhealth, or focus on high-demand roles like nursing and physical therapy. Delaware's smaller job market means networking with existing international healthcare workers can reveal additional opportunities not publicly posted.
Which cities in Delaware have the most healthcare sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington leads with ChristianaCare's main campus and multiple specialty facilities. Dover follows with Bayhealth Medical Center and state government health positions. Newark offers opportunities through ChristianaCare's satellite locations and proximity to University of Delaware research facilities. Smaller cities like Milford and Lewes have growing healthcare needs in underserved areas.
What are Delaware-specific considerations for healthcare visa sponsorship?
Delaware's small size means limited healthcare employers, making reputation and networking important. The state's lack of medical school creates reliance on out-of-state trained professionals, increasing sponsorship opportunities. Prevailing wages tend to align with Philadelphia market rates due to proximity, and many professionals live in Pennsylvania while working in Delaware.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
