Which technology companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Florida?
Florida-based technology employers that have historically worked with CPT students include Citrix Systems in Fort Lauderdale, Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) in Weston, and Chewy's tech division in Dania Beach. Miami's fintech scene, anchored by companies like Kairos and smaller SaaS startups, also draws CPT-eligible interns. Sponsorship willingness varies by company and term, so confirming CPT acceptance directly with the employer's HR team is essential before applying.
Which cities in Florida have the most technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for technology CPT opportunities, particularly in fintech, e-commerce, and software development. Tampa and St. Petersburg have a growing IT and cybersecurity presence, including firms supporting financial services and healthcare technology. Orlando draws CPT students through its simulation, gaming, and defense-tech sectors. Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton round out the market, anchored by established tech employers and regional satellite offices of national firms.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that align directly with a student's degree program qualify for CPT. In technology, that typically includes software engineering internships, data analyst positions, IT support and infrastructure roles, cybersecurity analyst roles, and UX or product design internships. The position must be integral to the curriculum and authorized by the Designated School Official (DSO) at the student's university. Florida employers offering these roles in structured internship programs are the most reliable pathway for CPT authorization.
How do I find technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type, including F-1 CPT, and by state, so you can search directly for technology roles in Florida without sorting through positions that don't support CPT. This saves significant time compared to broad job searches where CPT sponsorship is rarely advertised upfront. Use Migrate Mate to browse current Florida technology openings, then verify CPT eligibility with your DSO before applying.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in technology?
Florida has no state income tax, which is relevant context for CPT students budgeting internship compensation. More practically, Florida's technology market is heavily concentrated in a few metro areas, so students at universities in Gainesville, Tallahassee, or Jacksonville may need to consider remote or hybrid arrangements with Miami or Tampa-based employers. CPT authorization is tied to the student's enrolled institution, not the employer's location, so working remotely for a Florida company while attending an out-of-state university requires your DSO's specific approval.
