ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
AES Hawai‘i seeks a motivated, responsible intern to join our growing team. The successful candidate is self-motivated, well-organized, and comfortable managing different tasks, concepts, and challenges. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of Hawai‘i’s clean energy transition and to gain hands-on experience in the green economy sector. The primarily remote position will require the candidate to be based on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i, and may require in-person site visits & event participation. Internship period: June 9 – Aug 8 for 30 hours per week.
- Gains exposure to “green” career opportunities within the renewable energy sector and the corporate environment in Hawai‘i and beyond
- Supports various teams, including Stakeholder Relations, Communications, External Affairs, and Development. Participates in additional skill-building opportunities
- Attends on-site project tours
- Participates in internal and/or external stakeholder outreach
- Willingness/ability to travel to job sites and assist with hands-on work as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in or graduated within the last six months from a college/university program related to environmental studies, communications, sustainability, business, public relations, planning, or a related field (preference will be given to local Hawai‘i residents)
- Experience or demonstrated interest in the renewable energy industry or sustainability
- Computer-literate and proficient with Microsoft applications
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities
- Must be on-island and able to attend in-person activities for the duration of the internship period, and must have access to strong, stable internet for remote work
- Must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment
- Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- This is a 9 – 10-week, part-time (30hrs/week) summer internship position that is primarily remote but requires occasional in-person meetings and event attendance on Oʻahu
- Intern must be on Oʻahu for the entire duration of the internship
- The working language is English
- Relocation is not available for this position

COMPENSATION
- The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $21.00 and $30.18/per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
