Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Hawaii?
The largest healthcare employers in Hawaii with documented OPT hiring patterns include Hawaii Pacific Health (which operates Pali Momi, Straub, Kapiolani, and Wilcox hospitals), The Queen's Health Systems, and Kaiser Permanente Hawaii. Community health centers such as Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and Kokua Kalihi Valley also hire OPT workers, particularly for public health and administrative roles.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most healthcare F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu accounts for the majority of healthcare F-1 OPT positions in Hawaii, given its concentration of major hospital networks and medical centers. Hilo on the Big Island has openings through Hilo Medical Center and Hawaii Health & Harm Reduction Center. Smaller opportunities exist in Kailua-Kona and Maui county through facilities like Maui Health System, which is part of Kaiser Permanente.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Hawaii?
Roles that commonly align with F-1 OPT in Hawaii's healthcare sector include health informatics analysts, public health program coordinators, biomedical research assistants, medical coders, healthcare administrators, and clinical laboratory scientists. Positions requiring a degree in a directly related field are the strongest fit for OPT authorization. Clinical roles with state licensure requirements (such as nursing) may have additional credentialing steps beyond OPT eligibility itself.
How do I find healthcare F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international students searching for OPT-eligible roles and lets you filter by state, visa type, and industry, making it straightforward to browse verified healthcare F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Hawaii. Because Hawaii's healthcare hiring market is smaller than mainland states, using a focused platform like Migrate Mate helps surface relevant openings without sifting through employers who don't support OPT work authorization.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Hawaii's healthcare sector?
Hawaii's geographic isolation means healthcare employers face persistent workforce shortages, which can make them more open to hiring internationally educated candidates on OPT. However, any role requiring a Hawaii state professional license (such as physical therapy or clinical social work) requires you to satisfy state licensing board requirements independently of your OPT status. Hawaii also participates in federal programs like NHSC and HRSA, which fund community health positions that sometimes welcome OPT candidates in non-licensed roles.
