Which healthcare companies sponsor Green Card visas in Illinois?
Illinois is home to several large health systems that have established Green Card sponsorship programs, including Northwestern Medicine, Rush University Medical Center, Advocate Health Care, and the University of Chicago Medicine. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Illinois and Loyola University Chicago also sponsor permanent residence, particularly for physicians, advanced practice providers, and specialized allied health professionals.
Which cities in Illinois have the most healthcare Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the largest share of healthcare Green Card sponsorship jobs in Illinois, driven by its concentration of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and research institutions. Outside Chicago, Evanston, Oak Brook, and Naperville have notable hospital presence through major health system networks. Peoria, Rockford, and Springfield also offer opportunities, particularly at regional hospital systems and federally qualified health centers serving underserved communities.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Illinois?
Physicians, surgeons, and psychiatrists are among the most commonly sponsored roles, particularly given ongoing shortages across Illinois. Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and physician assistants also qualify regularly. Allied health professionals in physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical laboratory science, and diagnostic imaging are sponsored at larger health systems. Research-focused roles at academic medical centers may qualify through employment-based categories recognizing advanced degrees or extraordinary ability.
How do I find healthcare Green Card sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored positions in the U.S., including healthcare Green Card jobs in Illinois. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface relevant openings at Illinois health systems and hospitals. This focused approach saves significant time compared to manually reviewing employer career pages to determine sponsorship eligibility.
Are there Illinois-specific considerations for healthcare Green Card sponsorship?
Illinois has federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and Medically Underserved Areas across both Chicago neighborhoods and rural downstate regions. Physicians sponsored through the EB-2 National Interest Waiver often meet the criteria tied to serving these underserved populations, which can support self-petitioning without an employer-filed labor certification. Illinois state licensing requirements must also be satisfied independently of federal immigration approval, so timeline planning across both processes matters.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card healthcare jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
