Which technology companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Indiana?
Technology and tech-adjacent employers in Indiana that have historically hired CPT students include Salesforce, Infosys, Cummins, Eli Lilly (for technology roles), and a range of Indianapolis-based software and IT consulting firms. Defense and aerospace contractors near Fort Wayne also hire for engineering and software positions. CPT eligibility depends on your school's authorization and the employer's willingness to cooperate with your DSO, not solely on company size.
Which cities in Indiana have the most technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the largest share of Indiana technology hiring, particularly in enterprise software, cybersecurity, and IT services. West Lafayette and Bloomington attract CPT students through proximity to Purdue University and Indiana University, where local startups and university-affiliated research centers frequently post internship roles. Fort Wayne has a smaller but growing technology employment base, with manufacturing technology and defense contracting roles available to qualified students.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Indiana?
Roles that align directly with a STEM degree field are the most straightforward for CPT authorization. In Indiana's technology sector, this commonly includes software engineering internships, data analytics positions, IT infrastructure roles, machine learning research assistantships, and cybersecurity internships. The position must be an integral part of your academic program or a required practicum. Your DSO and academic advisor determine CPT eligibility, not the employer.
How do I find technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate lists technology jobs in Indiana that are open to F-1 CPT candidates, letting you filter specifically by visa type and state rather than sorting through postings that don't accommodate international students. When searching, focus on Indianapolis and university-adjacent markets like West Lafayette and Bloomington. Reach out directly to employer recruiting contacts to confirm CPT acceptance before applying, since not all postings specify visa accommodation upfront.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the technology industry?
Indiana has a strong manufacturing technology and life sciences technology base alongside traditional software roles, which broadens CPT options for students in engineering and applied computing programs. Purdue University's co-op and internship infrastructure means many regional employers are already familiar with CPT documentation requirements. Students should confirm that their specific program at their institution authorizes CPT for the proposed role, as policies differ between universities and even between departments within the same school.
