The platform displays which employers actively sponsor visas and provides details about position requirements. Focus on research universities and large school districts, as they typically have established international hiring processes.
Which visa types are most common for education roles in Kentucky?
H-1B visas dominate for faculty positions requiring specialized knowledge, particularly in STEM fields, business, and healthcare programs. J-1 exchange visitor visas are common for visiting scholars and researchers. O-1 visas apply for distinguished faculty with exceptional achievements. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying education roles.

What should I know about education visa sponsorship in Kentucky specifically?
Kentucky's education sector benefits from lower competition compared to coastal states, potentially improving sponsorship odds. Rural campus locations may offer unique lifestyle benefits for international educators.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored education jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
