Job Summary
The Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor to contribute to its applied teaching, research, and service missions. This is a non-tenure-eligible faculty position in the Clinical Title Series with an anticipated distribution of effort (DOE) of 80% Research, 15% Teaching and 5% Service. The appointment is expected to begin July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will combine high-quality, practice-oriented instruction with externally funded, policy-relevant applied research.
Research Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will engage in applied, policy-relevant research focused on public-sector financial management, auditing, and/or social service delivery.
- The position is structured with a substantial expectation of salary recovery from external grants and contracts, and candidates must demonstrate a track record of securing such funding.
Teaching Responsibilities
The position includes teaching graduate-level courses in areas such as:
- Governmental Accounting
- Financial Condition Analysis
- Applied Government Accounting and Audit
- Governmental Auditing
Instruction is expected to integrate professional practice, real-world applications, and experiential learning, consistent with the mission of the Clinical Title Series.
Service and Engagement
Clinical faculty are expected to contribute to:
- Programmatic and instructional development
- Engagement with public-sector and nonprofit partners
- Service to the School, profession, and broader community
The Martin School of Public Policy and Administration is a University Center of Excellence with a multidisciplinary faculty offering five degrees: Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Financial Management, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy. Currently, the Martin School is a highly ranked program as it is currently ranked 26th among all public affairs programs, 4th in public finance and budgeting, 24th in local government management and 35th in public policy analysis by U.S. News and World Report.
