Job Summary
The Operator – CoEx is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plastic extrusion equipment to produce high-quality products. This role requires continuous monitoring and adjustment of machine settings, including extruder speed, temperature, pressure, and winding, to ensure optimal production performance while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plastic co-extrusion equipment to ensure consistent product quality and production efficiency.
- Adjust gauges and controls related to speed, temperature, pressure, and winding systems as needed.
- Follow all company safety rules, regulations, and procedures at all times.
- Perform required quality inspections, testing, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Execute production schedules to meet customer demands and operational targets.
- Complete product labeling and production data entry.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of all related equipment and processes.
- Operate cranes, forklifts, and other heavy-duty machinery safely.
- Provide coverage for team members during breaks or absences as needed.
- Complete all required paperwork and production records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Senior Operator or in a similar manufacturing role preferred.
- Working knowledge of process equipment, tooling, and production procedures.
- Experience in plastic extrusion strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new equipment and processes.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production environment.
- Ability to analyze production issues and implement effective solutions.
- Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
- Basic math, reading, and analytical skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and bending throughout the shift.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs or more.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
