The candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation electrophoretic display platforms, with a focus on external phase design, capsule materials, formulation development, and mechanism-driven problem solving.
This individual will work closely with cross-functional research and development teams to connect material properties, process conditions, capsule performance, coating behavior, device electro-optical response, and reliability. The role requires strong technical curiosity, experimental rigor, and the ability to translate scientific understanding into practical solutions for FPL product advancement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop novel materials, formulations, and processes to meet product requirements for electrophoretic displays.
- Conduct wet chemistry experiments to formulate and encapsulate electrophoretic ink systems using a range of encapsulation technologies.
- Develop characterization methods to enable faster turnaround for material screening, formulation selection, and root-cause analysis.
- Develop a deep understanding of interfacial interactions among polymers, pigments, solvents, binders, and coating interfaces, and connect these interactions to environmental stability and device performance.
- Support rapid learning cycles by identifying critical technical unknowns, designing mechanism-driven experiments, proposing contingency plans, and translating experimental findings into actionable project recommendations.
- Document results in comprehensive technical reports and contribute to patents and trade secrets for intellectual property generation and new technology development.

- Strong background in polymer materials, surface science, interfaces, emulsions, encapsulation, dispersions, soft matter, or formulation science.
- Experience designing experiments, analyzing complex data, and developing structure-property-performance relationships.
- Knowledge of material characterization techniques such as optical microscopy, particle size analysis, rheology, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, surface/interfacial characterization, or mechanical testing of soft materials.
- Excellent troubleshooting, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-directed, motivated, and hands-on personality with the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly interdisciplinary environment.
Preferences:
- Knowledge of thin films, polymeric phases, and their characterization.
- Experience designing custom experimental setups or test fixtures.
- Knowledge of programming languages and simulation packages is a plus.

Which marketing & advertising companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers with active STEM OPT sponsorship histories in marketing and advertising include HubSpot, Wayfair, Criteo, TechTarget, and PTC, among others. Larger adtech, e-commerce, and B2B software companies in the Greater Boston area tend to file the most Labor Condition Applications for marketing analytics, demand generation, and digital advertising roles that qualify under STEM-designated CIP codes.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most marketing & advertising F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of STEM OPT-eligible marketing roles in Massachusetts, driven by the concentration of technology companies, adtech platforms, and university-adjacent startups in those areas. Waltham and Burlington along the Route 128 corridor also host established tech and B2B marketing teams. Worcester has a smaller but growing presence tied to its university ecosystem.
What types of marketing & advertising roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code that matches your degree. In marketing and advertising, this commonly covers positions like marketing data analyst, marketing science analyst, digital analytics specialist, programmatic advertising analyst, and consumer insights researcher. Roles emphasizing statistical modeling, machine learning, or quantitative research are more consistently STEM-eligible than generalist brand or content positions.
How do I find marketing & advertising F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate lets you filter directly for F-1 STEM OPT-eligible marketing and advertising jobs in Massachusetts, showing employers with verified sponsorship histories so you're not applying blindly. Because STEM OPT eligibility depends on both your degree's CIP code and the role's occupational classification, focusing on employers who have previously filed for similar positions in Massachusetts is the most reliable starting point.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in marketing & advertising?
Massachusetts employers sponsoring STEM OPT workers must be enrolled in E-Verify, a federal requirement that applies regardless of state. Massachusetts itself has no additional state-level STEM OPT requirements, but the state's high concentration of research universities means many employers are already familiar with the process. Marketing roles at firms tied to Boston's financial services or life sciences sectors may also have compliance-focused hiring pipelines that accommodate STEM OPT candidates more readily.
