ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Key Account Manager is responsible for driving all sales activities associated with the Bioresearch product platform encompassing instrumentation, software, and related services through in-field activities no less than 3 days per week, working independently and with Channel partners. The focused portfolio includes microplate readers, both non-enterprise & enterprise-level software for data acquisition and analysis, as well as associated point of sale services; all providing scientists (research, screening, production, QC, etc) with comprehensive solutions including tools to assure data integrity and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 Regulatory Compliance Requirements. Additional products include robotic plate handling systems, microplate washers, microarray scanners, and reagents. As a member of the Sales organization, this role is responsible for building and maintaining strong customer relationships directed toward growing Molecular Devices’ market share, revenue, and profitability year over year in the following target market segments: life sciences, government installations, biotechnology, pharma, academic research labs, contract labs, some clinical labs.
This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager and is part of the East Sales working remotely to cover the Boston MA territory.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Achieve territory revenue goals and targets for the product platform in the assigned territory with balanced growth via both direct and distribution channels
- Proactively prospect for new customers and new opportunities, minimum 3 days working in the field, within the assigned territory, working independently and with Molecular Devices distribution channel partners
- Must be proficient in the use of SFDC with the ability to maintain accurate and timely account data, sales opportunity progression updates, and F2F activities. Minimum 3 days in-field workdays
- Performing technical demonstrations, training, installations, customer support on equipment & software as well as attending and participating in Regional and Local Product Shows
- Generate accurate weekly/monthly/quarterly forecasts for the assigned territory. Consistently monitor territory metrics and take ownership of changes needed to succeed. Perform lead generation activities including but not limited to eblasts, seminars, workdays with business partners and in-field sales prospecting
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- A minimum of 5 years of field sales experience or selling into the life science or drug discovery industry is preferred. Pharmaceutical or Medical Device sales do not meet this qualification requirement.
- Experience in PowerPoint, Excel, Word & Salesforce.com CRM Database is preferred, with demonstrated data analysis capability
TRAVEL, MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD & PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel – This position will be located in listed territory, within 45 min of major airport, candidates must be willing to travel up to 50%, which may include overnight travel.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Lifting and transporting instruments - Ability to lift 50 lbs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- 5 years of Field Sales Experience with research instrumentation with knowledge of absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence, Western Blot & Imaging technology is preferred.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $120,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
