Which accounting companies sponsor Green Card visas in Michigan?
Michigan's largest accounting Green Card sponsors include the Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) with offices in Detroit and Grand Rapids, as well as regional firms like Plante Moran and BDO. Large Michigan-headquartered employers in automotive and manufacturing, including General Motors and Ford, also sponsor accounting professionals through their in-house finance and internal audit teams.
Which cities in Michigan have the most accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, particularly Troy and Southfield, account for the highest concentration of accounting sponsorship opportunities in Michigan, driven by the automotive industry and major professional services offices. Grand Rapids is a growing secondary market with a strong manufacturing and healthcare finance sector. Ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan, also attracts accounting employers, particularly in research finance and compliance roles.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles most commonly sponsored include public accountants, audit managers, tax specialists, financial analysts, controllers, and internal auditors. These positions generally require a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, and many employers prefer or require CPA licensure. Managerial and senior-level roles tend to have more active sponsorship pipelines than entry-level positions, as employers typically initiate Green Card processes after an employee has established tenure.
How do I find accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international professionals seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter accounting jobs in Michigan by Green Card sponsorship. Rather than combing through general job listings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers who have documented sponsorship activity, saving significant research time. It's a practical starting point for CPA candidates, auditors, and financial analysts targeting Michigan employers.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for accounting Green Card sponsorship?
Michigan's economy is heavily tied to automotive manufacturing, which influences the types of accounting roles in demand. Cost accounting, government contracting compliance, and supply chain finance are particularly active specializations here. Employers in Michigan who regularly sponsor Green Cards through the EB-2 or EB-3 categories must complete a PERM labor market test, confirming no qualified U.S. workers are available, before filing an immigrant petition. Processing timelines vary based on the applicant's country of birth and priority date.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card accounting jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
