Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor Green Card visas in Michigan?
Several large defense contractors with Michigan operations have sponsored Green Card petitions, including L3Harris Technologies, Raytheon Technologies, General Dynamics, and DRS Technologies. Michigan-based aerospace manufacturers tied to the automotive supply chain, such as Spirit AeroSystems suppliers and Triumph Group facilities, also have histories of sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for engineering and technical roles. Sponsorship availability varies by role, location, and current headcount needs.
Which cities in Michigan have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Metro Detroit, including Sterling Heights, Troy, and Warren, concentrates the highest volume of aerospace and defense sponsorship activity due to the presence of defense contractors and advanced manufacturing facilities. Grand Rapids supports a secondary cluster, particularly in defense electronics and precision components. Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County also generates demand for contractor roles that occasionally include Green Card sponsorship.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles most commonly sponsored include aerospace systems engineers, avionics engineers, structural engineers, defense electronics technicians, software engineers working on defense platforms, and program managers with security clearance eligibility. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field typically qualify under EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories. Skilled production roles with demonstrated labor shortages may also be sponsored under EB-3.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles in the U.S., including Green Card-sponsored aerospace and defense positions in Michigan. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface employers actively sponsoring Green Cards in Michigan's defense sector. This removes the guesswork of identifying which companies will support your immigration pathway.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Many Michigan aerospace and defense roles require or strongly prefer candidates eligible for U.S. security clearances, which are currently limited to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents. This creates a practical consideration: some positions may only be available to applicants who already hold or are near the end of the Green Card process. Employers in Michigan's defense corridor also tend to sponsor through the PERM labor certification process, which involves multi-month timelines before an I-140 petition can be filed.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
