Which transportation companies sponsor Green Card visas in Michigan?
Michigan-based transportation employers with documented Green Card sponsorship history include General Motors (supply chain and logistics divisions), Ford Motor Company, XPO Logistics, and Penske Transportation Solutions, which is headquartered in Bloomfield Hills. Freight carriers and third-party logistics providers operating out of Detroit Metro and Grand Rapids have also filed PERM labor certifications for roles in operations, engineering, and fleet management.
Which cities in Michigan have the most transportation Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding suburbs, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Bloomfield Hills, account for the largest concentration of transportation Green Card sponsorship activity due to the region's automotive and logistics industry base. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub, particularly for freight and supply chain roles. Lansing and Flint also see sponsorship activity tied to manufacturing logistics and regional trucking operations.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles that most commonly appear in PERM labor certification filings in Michigan's transportation sector include supply chain engineers, logistics analysts, transportation planners, operations managers, fleet management specialists, and freight network analysts. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, supply chain management, or a related technical field are more likely to qualify under the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based preference categories.
How do I find transportation Green Card sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by Michigan, the transportation industry, and Green Card sponsorship to see verified employer listings actively seeking sponsored candidates. This saves significant time compared to manually screening job postings that don't disclose sponsorship intent. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on international candidates, so every listing is relevant to workers who need employer-sponsored permanent residence.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in transportation?
Michigan's heavy automotive industry concentration means many transportation roles are tied to manufacturing supply chains, which can influence the prevailing wage determinations used in PERM filings. The Detroit Tri-County labor market area is treated as a distinct wage region by the Department of Labor, which affects the wage obligations employers must meet. Candidates in skilled trades or CDL-required roles should note that EB-3 unskilled or skilled worker categories may apply depending on the specific position.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card transportation jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
