Which automotive companies in Michigan sponsor TN visas?
Michigan's largest automotive employers, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Stellantis, have established TN visa sponsorship processes for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals. Major Tier 1 suppliers such as Aptiv, BorgWarner, and Magna International, all with significant Michigan operations, also regularly sponsor TN visas for engineering and technical roles. Smaller autonomous vehicle and mobility tech firms in the Ann Arbor and Detroit corridors sponsor as well.
Which cities in Michigan have the most automotive TN sponsorship jobs?
The Detroit metro area, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, Warren, and Southfield, concentrates the highest volume of automotive TN sponsorship roles given the headquarters presence of Ford, GM, and Stellantis. Ann Arbor is a secondary hub, particularly for software, autonomous vehicle, and R&D engineering positions. Grand Rapids has a growing supplier manufacturing base with additional TN-eligible openings in industrial and mechanical engineering.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Michigan?
TN visa eligibility in the automotive sector applies to roles that meet defined professional categories. Mechanical, electrical, industrial, and software engineers are the most common qualifying positions. Other eligible roles include computer systems analysts, scientific technicians supporting R&D, and management consultants engaged in operations or supply chain work. Roles must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field to satisfy TN specialty occupation criteria.
How do I find automotive TN sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for professionals seeking visa-sponsored roles and lets you filter by visa type, state, and industry, making it straightforward to browse automotive TN sponsorship jobs in Michigan specifically. Because TN sponsorship willingness varies by employer and role, filtering by sponsorship type from the start saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering eligibility issues later in the process.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for automotive TN sponsorship?
Michigan's automotive sector is heavily project-driven, meaning many TN-sponsored roles are tied to specific vehicle programs or product development cycles. TN status is employer-specific, so a change in project assignment that substantially alters job duties could affect status. Canadian professionals can obtain TN status directly at the Port of Entry, while Mexican nationals require consular processing. Detroit Metropolitan Airport and the Ambassador Bridge crossing in Detroit are both commonly used entry points.
