Which automotive companies sponsor TN visas in South Carolina?
BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg is the largest automotive employer in South Carolina and has a documented history of hiring skilled international professionals. Volvo Cars in Berkeley County and a network of Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers across the Upstate region, including companies supporting the BMW supply chain, also hire for technical roles that commonly qualify for TN visa status. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on the specific role and employer policy.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most automotive TN sponsorship jobs?
Spartanburg and Greenville in the Upstate region concentrate the highest volume of automotive TN sponsorship opportunities, largely due to BMW's presence and its surrounding supplier ecosystem. Charleston and Berkeley County in the Lowcountry have grown significantly since Volvo Cars opened its North American manufacturing plant. Anderson and Greer also host several automotive suppliers with technical hiring needs that can align with TN-eligible occupations.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN status in the automotive industry is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens in occupations listed under USMCA, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific field. Roles that commonly qualify include mechanical engineers, industrial engineers, electrical engineers, computer systems analysts, and accountants supporting manufacturing operations. General production, assembly, or supervisory roles without a degree requirement typically do not qualify. The job offer must tie the duties directly to a recognized TN occupation category.
How do I find automotive TN sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa type, including TN, and by industry, including automotive. You can search directly for TN-eligible automotive roles in South Carolina without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. This is more efficient than searching general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront. Migrate Mate also provides guidance on which role types align with TN occupation categories.
Are there any South Carolina-specific considerations for automotive TN sponsorship?
South Carolina does not have state-level visa or immigration rules, but the concentration of automotive activity in the Upstate region means TN candidates often work in right-to-work employment environments with at-will contracts. TN status is employer-specific, so switching between the many automotive suppliers in the Spartanburg-Greenville corridor requires a new TN application with each employer change. Candidates should also confirm that their degree field aligns with the USMCA occupation list before applying, as automotive job titles vary widely across the state's supplier network.
