Which automotive companies sponsor TN visas in Texas?
Toyota has a significant manufacturing presence in San Antonio, and Tesla operates a large assembly plant in Austin, both of which have hired TN visa holders in engineering and technical roles. Beyond OEMs, tier-one suppliers such as Magna, Bosch, and Continental operate facilities across the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio corridors and have sponsored TN professionals in qualifying specialty occupations.
Which cities in Texas have the most automotive TN sponsorship jobs?
San Antonio leads due to Toyota's manufacturing campus and its surrounding supplier network. Austin has grown rapidly as Tesla's Gigafactory Texas draws engineering and technical talent. Dallas-Fort Worth is a secondary hub, with corporate offices and supplier operations concentrated in the Metroplex. Houston, while primarily an energy city, also has automotive-adjacent roles in fleet management, logistics, and systems engineering.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN sponsorship in automotive generally applies to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Common qualifying roles include mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, industrial engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality assurance engineers, and computer systems analysts working on vehicle software or embedded systems. Technician-level positions that do not require a relevant degree typically do not qualify under TN criteria.
How do I find automotive TN sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for TN visa holders and lists automotive roles with confirmed TN sponsorship in Texas. Filtering by state and visa type surfaces positions from manufacturers and suppliers actively hiring Canadian and Mexican professionals. Because TN sponsorship eligibility depends on both the role and your specific degree, reviewing job descriptions carefully before applying is important.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for automotive TN sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects overall compensation comparisons but does not change federal TN visa requirements. Texas is an at-will employment state, so employment offers can be structured differently than in some other states, though the TN visa itself requires a legitimate, full-time job offer in a qualifying occupation. Proximity to the Mexican border also means some employers in cities like Laredo or El Paso have established processes for TN applicants entering at land ports of entry.
