Tips for Finding TN Sponsorship Jobs in Texas
Target Texas energy corridor employers
Houston's Energy Corridor is home to ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron Phillips, and dozens of engineering and consulting firms that regularly sponsor TN visas for engineers, scientists, and technical specialists. These employers are experienced with TN requirements and process them routinely.
Focus on roles with a clear degree-to-job match
TN sponsorship in Texas depends on your job title matching an eligible TN occupation category and your degree aligning with that role. Engineering, accounting, scientific, and computer-related roles are common approvals. Ambiguous job titles create unnecessary complications at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to filter by TN-sponsoring employers
Searching broadly wastes time. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for TN visa sponsorship jobs in Texas so you're only reviewing employers who have already indicated willingness to sponsor, saving you from cold applications to companies unfamiliar with TN status.
Prioritize Texas companies with existing cross-border operations
Texas shares a 1,200-mile border with Mexico, and many Texas-based multinationals operate facilities on both sides. Companies like Cemex, PEMEX-affiliated contractors, and Canadian-headquartered firms with Texas offices frequently sponsor TN visas as part of normal hiring.
Engage Austin's tech sector for computer-related TN roles
Austin's technology ecosystem, anchored by Apple, Tesla, Oracle, and Dell, generates consistent demand for software engineers, systems analysts, and computer scientists. These are well-established TN-qualifying categories, and Austin employers are generally familiar with the process.
Confirm employer willingness before investing in the application process
Some Texas employers are unfamiliar with TN visa mechanics despite being open to sponsorship. When browsing roles on Migrate Mate, prioritize companies with prior TN or H-1B visa sponsorship history, as they're more likely to move efficiently through the offer letter and documentation process.

Which industries in Texas sponsor the most TN visas?
Energy and engineering lead TN visa sponsorship in Texas, particularly in Houston where oil and gas companies regularly hire engineers, geoscientists, and environmental scientists. Technology is the second-largest sector, concentrated in Austin and Dallas. Healthcare, finance, and management consulting round out the top industries, with demand for accountants, nurses, and scientific researchers consistent across major metro areas.
Which cities in Texas have the most TN sponsorship jobs?
Houston has the highest volume of TN-sponsoring employers overall, driven by the energy sector and its large medical center complex. Dallas-Fort Worth is the strongest market for finance, telecommunications, and corporate headquarters roles. Austin leads for technology and software positions. San Antonio has growing healthcare and military-adjacent contracting opportunities, while Midland and Odessa concentrate energy field roles.
What types of roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Texas?
Roles qualifying for TN sponsorship must fall within the USMCA TN occupation list. In Texas, the most commonly sponsored categories include petroleum and chemical engineers, software engineers and systems analysts, accountants and auditors, geologists and geoscientists, pharmacists, registered nurses with specific agreements, and management consultants. The job title and degree field must align clearly with an approved TN category.
How do I find TN sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type and state to surface Texas employers actively offering TN sponsorship, rather than sorting through generic job boards where sponsorship status is unclear. Beyond that, targeting companies with established cross-border operations or prior immigration sponsorship history improves your chances of finding employers familiar with TN requirements.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for TN sponsorship?
Texas has no state-specific TN rules since TN status is governed by federal USMCA provisions, but a few practical factors matter. Many Texas energy roles involve worksite locations outside major cities, so confirm your job description reflects the actual work location. Mexican nationals applying for TN status from Texas-adjacent border crossings like Laredo or El Paso should verify current processing capacity at those ports of entry before traveling.
