Which energy companies in Texas sponsor TN visas?
Large integrated energy companies headquartered or operating extensively in Texas, including ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and Schlumberger (SLB), have established processes for hiring TN workers. Midstream and power companies such as Enterprise Products Partners and NRG Energy also hire in qualifying TN categories. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on the specific role and how it aligns with USCIS-recognized TN occupations.
Which cities in Texas have the most energy TN sponsorship jobs?
Houston is the dominant hub, home to the majority of Texas-based energy corporate headquarters and a dense concentration of engineering, geology, and technical operations roles. Midland and Odessa serve the Permian Basin with upstream oil and gas positions. San Antonio and Austin are growing centers for clean energy and grid management roles, while Corpus Christi and Beaumont support refining and petrochemical operations.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN status covers a defined list of occupations, and within energy, roles that commonly qualify include petroleum engineers, chemical engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, geologists, geophysicists, and environmental scientists. The position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. General operations, field technician, or trades-based roles do not qualify for TN classification, regardless of the employer or industry.
How do I find energy TN sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by TN visa type, the energy industry, and Texas as the state to see active job postings from employers open to TN sponsorship. This is more targeted than a general job search because listings are curated for international candidates who need visa support, saving you from applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table.
Are there state-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in the Texas energy sector?
Texas has no state-level work authorization requirements that differ from federal TN rules, so the standard TN process applies. One practical consideration is that many Texas energy roles, particularly in upstream oil and gas, involve jobsite locations in remote areas like the Permian Basin where employer logistics matter. Additionally, some Texas energy employers use contract staffing firms rather than direct hire, and TN sponsorship eligibility can depend on whether the staffing firm or end client is the petitioning employer.
