ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will assist the safety leader to audit, enforce and train on safety procedures, which may include on-site at multiple construction projects. Provide safety support to the project management teams to help them achieve the strategic goals of the department by data tracking, administrative support, and demonstrating personal responsibility to build a positive safety culture as a Safety Engineer.
Essential Accountabilities
- Conduct regular jobsite walk through audits with Superintendent project team to identify hazards.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the overall project safety program, policies and procedures. Collaborate with and assist other departments to reduce and eliminate risk.
- Foster and build relationships to ensure safety compliance with employees, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Administrative support of Safety Leader / department as assigned. Records maintenance, tracking, monitoring and evaluation of leading indicator data.
- Provide safety support to project team members, including but not limited to, attending pre-construction planning meetings with project team to review overall site-specific safety programs.
- Obtain training and develop additional competencies related to construction safety.
- Champion safety messaging, practices and building a culture of care and concern for each team member.
- Escalate issues through the proper chain of command (i.e., job site issues, non-compliant sub-contractors, disciplinary issues, etc.).
- Assist Safety Leader in other Safety department functions as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelors degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, or Construction Management or equivalent construction experience.
Work Experience:
- 0-1 years of construction experience (3+ yrs experience required in lieu of a degree).
Demonstrated Technical Competencies to include:
- Basic computer skills
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, Projects
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Camtasia or other video editing software
- Procore knowledge a plus, not required
Demonstrated Professional Competencies to include:
- Strong organizational skills
- Displays a desire to learn and take initiative
- Displays strong written, oral communication skills and effective listening skills
- Critical thinking and problem recognition to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The per annum base pay range is $71,500 - $105,000. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. The position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include travel pay and/or a bonus or incentive program.
