Which education companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Minnesota?
Minnesota education employers with documented F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history include the University of Minnesota system, Pearson, Anthology, and edtech-adjacent research centers affiliated with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Sponsorship is most consistent in roles tied to data analysis, software engineering, and instructional design, where the STEM degree classification clearly falls within a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs category recognized by ICE.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most education F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul together account for the majority of education F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship activity in Minnesota, driven by the University of Minnesota's flagship campus, corporate edtech offices, and nonprofit learning organizations headquartered in the Twin Cities metro. Rochester is a secondary market, particularly for roles connected to education technology serving the healthcare and research workforce at Mayo Clinic-affiliated institutions.
How do I find education F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for education employers in Minnesota that have filed Labor Condition Applications for STEM OPT-eligible roles, so you can focus on companies with a verified sponsorship track record rather than guessing from general job postings. Search by STEM degree classification and state to surface data science, instructional technology, and educational research positions at Minnesota universities and edtech organizations actively hiring on STEM OPT.
What types of education roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must carry a STEM-designated STEM degree classification recognized by ICE and be tied to a STEM degree. In Minnesota's education sector, qualifying positions typically include data analyst and learning analytics roles, software and platform developers at edtech companies, instructional systems designers using data-driven methods, and research scientists at university-affiliated education research centers. Roles like K-12 classroom teachers or general program coordinators do not typically qualify.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in education?
Minnesota's large public university system and concentration of edtech firms means many sponsoring employers are familiar with the E-Verify enrollment requirement that STEM OPT mandates. However, smaller Minnesota school districts and private K-12 institutions often lack the HR infrastructure to support STEM OPT, so candidates should prioritize university research units, corporate training organizations, and edtech companies that already have an active E-Verify account and prior LCA filing history in the education sector.
